Aluka
During her third year of her Bachelors of Architectural Studies, Christine designed a contemporary African art museum. ALUKA, meaning 'to weave' in Zulu, formed the underlying concept of the design of the museum located in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. A series of large ramps, which connect the three levels of the museum, serve as a temporary exhibition space that is visible from the street. Here visitors are drawn in from street level and up to the various permanent exhibition spaces.
